Tables for the 29th annual Great Debate are still available
What is the Great Debate? The Great Debate is an annual event hosted by the Rotary Club of Hilliard to benefit its many great causes. 2011 will mark the 29 year anniversary of the event. The main event at the Great Debate is a debate between two teams, Ohio State and Michigan, debating on the great college football rivalry. The debaters come from a variety of places, some are comedians some are former players, and some are local celebrities. The debate is played in quarters and scored just like a football game. Correctly guess the score of the game and win $500. In addition to the debate admission includes lunch, drinks (sodas and beer), raffles, and the opportunity to bid on our many silent auction items. Many of the silent auction items are Buckeye related and many are not. Last year we had items ranging from a Fender guitar signed by Buckeye great Hopalong Cassidy to a weekend getaway in Tennessee and many items in between. Tables for the event seat 10 and are on sale now for $500. Reserve your table now by emailing greatdebate@hilliardrotaryclub.org
Who will win this year? The battle begins before the players even step foot on the field! Kick off the biggest week of the year on Monday before the big game, as Buckeye and Wolverine fans tackle the opposing side with verbal jabs, puns and jokes to prove that their team is the best!
Featuring: Mark "Daddy Wags" Wagner of WLVQ-FM 96.3, a special appearance by trivia expert Jack Park, Doug Lessells from Channel 6 as this year's referee, Funny Bone comedians Dan Swartwout and Bill Arrundale and others!.
All proceeds benefit the Hilliard Rotary Club, which supports a variety of community projects including the Heinzerling Foundation, and the Stefanie Speilman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
